Gareth Thomas MP for Harrow West invites HFB to take part in a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of the Mumbai terrorist attacks

Date:
26 November 2009

Dear All,

MumbaiI am writing to invite you to take part in a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of the Mumbai terrorist attacks which will take place from 6pm – 6:45pm on Friday 27th November on the slopes of Harrow on the Hill, opposite Harrow College, Lowlands Road, Harrow (near the back entrance of Harrow-on-the-Hill Station)

Between 26th and 27th November last year a group of at least ten terrorists launched attacks on a number of sites in Mumbai – two international hotels, an airport, a restaurant, a hospital, the train station and the Nariman House residential complex which included a Jewish religious outreach centre. Over 170 people died, 26 of them from outside India.

Harrow has long had connections to India and in particular to the parts of India close to Mumbai. The vigil is intended to be an act of solidarity with all those who lost loved ones or who were injured and their families as a result of the attacks. It is also intended as a reminder of the continuing threat posed by terrorism across the world.

If you would like to attend, please arrive between 5:30pm and 5:45pm so that we can start on time. In addition in order to give the organisers an estimate of numbers please could you let the office of Gareth Thomas MP know if you are planning to attend. You can email thomasgr@parliament.uk or call 020 7219 4243.

Thank you for your interest,

Gareth
